Ashley Bridals Sneak Peek!

So Ashley, if you're reading this, I'm still working on getting all my files transferred to jpeg. But here's some teasers to tide you over for a bit.
For everyone else, Ash had the idea to do some of her bridals at a Ford dealership, seeing as her fiance's last name is Ford so she'll be one here in two weeks! Many thanks to Champion Ford Dealership in Sandy for letting us use the cars and pretty do whatever we wanted :) It was rad.

Sneak Peek of Kayla and Lance

So basically, Kayla told me for the past two years that she wants me to do her wedding, and last Friday and Saturday I did! Her reception was at the classy "Old Meeting House" and she was married at the Bountiful Temple. I apparently earned the nickname "Fastest Photographer Ever" at the Temple because we only had half an hour for photos. I whipped Kayla and Lance around the temple grounds and we got some great shots! Here's a sample!

Kayla's Bridals

I've held off on posting these because Kayla didn't want Lance to see her in her dress, and although I highly doubt he checks my blog, I just wanted to make sure :) So since Kayla's wedding was yesterday, she gave me free rein to post them however much I want.

Kayla was so gorgeous, we took these photos at the Garden Park Ward downtown. It's beautiful, and best of all, it's free! Why pay to shoot at La Caille ($200 an hour, appointment necessary) or Thanksgiving Point ($100) when you can go here? My thoughts exactly.

Holly and Layne

So this post is a little late in the making. But at least I'm getting to it, right? Anywho, Layne and Holly's wedding was beauiful, Holly was gorgeous and it was a joy to shoot. On top of that, Holly was quite the trooper as she was recovering from the H1N1 virus. But you couldn't even tell she felt ill, so kudos on that Holly!
P.S. I will add more pics later. I just got a new laptop and haven't shifted over all the pics from my external hard drive yet. Or you could just go to my website at http://rasheajenkins.webs.com :P

Jackie and Devan Sneak!

Alright, so I had the wonderful opportunity to second shoot and assist for the amazing Alisha Stamper over (http://www.alishastamper.com/). We shot Jackie and Devan in Stansbury Park (over by Tooele for those not familiar with the area) at the Millpond Spa. Beautiful place! I want to go back there for a day of relaxation and awesomeness.

Anywho, the day went beautifully, I learned a ton from Alisha, and think everything went really well. The ceremony was done and over with in a record 5 minutes (actually I think it was less than that). But it was beautiful. The couple was beautiful, the day was beautiful, and the pics were beautiful.

Almost Guaranteed to Brighten Your Day

Alright, so we've all seen the famous "Best Wedding Entrance Ever!" video (and if you haven't, here's the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-94JhLEiN0&feature=related).

How's the couple doing 6 months later? I'm so glad you asked...

Take a look for yourself:

I don't know about you, but I laughed almost til I cried. Now hurry up and send it to your mom, sisters, or any friends that have a wicked sense of humor :)

Tate's Photoshoot

Check out Tate's utter awesomeness~

Tate works at This is the Place Heritage Park in Salt Lake City, so that's where he wanted to do the shoot. I'm so glad I was able to shoot there! And I can't wait to go back in the future with a bride or a couple, because seriously, that place is amazing.

We shot for about 3 hours, and Tate and I were laughing for most of it. There were so many great little nooks and crannies that we shot in, and it was even better because we got to ride around in a golf cart. We tried to get some ducks and bunnies in a few shots, but let's just say they were a little less than cooperative. That aside, I really loved this shoot. So many of the photos turned out great because Tate was really relaxed and happy.
I think I'll definitely go back, not to shoot again, but because I like historical sites like that. The houses and buildings are beautiful, and I'm a nerd. I love the history behind places like that. Plus it overlooks the whole Salt Lake Valley, it's quite breathtaking at sunset.

Gorgeous!

The sunrise...

The sunset....

So today is my husband's birthday, and earlier this week he decided he wanted to go camping for just one night for his birthday. So last night we packed our bags and headed northward to Antelope Island. We got a late start, but it was all worth it in the end.

We actually forgot a few quite essential things, geniuses that we are. Here's a list of the things we forgot:

  • Eating utensils

  • Pillows

  • Jackets

  • Shovel (for the fire pit, maybe not a necessity, but certainly nice to have)

  • Hand sanitizer.

Luckily, my wonderful husband fashioned some eating utensils out of tin foil so we could eat our meal, and it wasn't too cold so we didn't necessarily need our jackets but the bay flies and brine flies were out en force so jackets with hoods are definitely a must have next time around! And technically I had a pillow... Yes, I used my husband as a pillow (and it was just as good as a real pillow:). And, in lieu of hand sanitizer, I had the genius idea of bringing cleaning wipes (I can remember wipes but no pillows, jackets, or sanitizer?!) So all was well. Luckily it was only for one night, had it been for a week we definitely would have been in trouble.

But, as I said before, it was definitely worth it. We caught some amazing shots, despite the evile flies and mosquitoes (and yes that's evil with an 'e', makes it sound more dastardly, no?). Miraculously we were up at sunrise to take some more shots. There were also jackrabbits galore, one decided to race my car (we clocked it in at 20 mph before we took the lead). The Great Salt Lake was incredibly beautiful, at times it was like glass! If you ever want a quick getaway, pick up a tent or trailer and head off to Antelope Island, the small camping fee of 13 dollars was worth every penny and more. The photo opportunities were nice, but mostly it was wonderful to get away from responsibilities, etc, if only for a few hours. I think that's one of my favorite things about Utah, you don't have to go too far to get away from it all.

Best Sunday Ever! Pretty Close Anyway...

So last night my family celebrated my niece's 14th birthday at my parent's house. I love my niece, she's kinda funky and funny and is my overall buddy. It was a fun day, what with it being unbearably hot one moment and raining and windy the next (we had the party outside, forgot to mention that). But after the few minutes of rain and wind, the weather cooperated with our celebrating. I gave my niece a t-shirt from her favorite show, and made lime rickeys (which I now feel quite proficient at doing I might add ;).

It was good to visit with my family, it's rare that we get everyone together (we were still missing a few members this time), but it's always much more fun with my brothers' joking and my sisters' sarcastic remarks, not to mention the great food everyone brings. Pretty sure the lime rickey was everyone's favorite today though... (wishful thinking much?)

I think the icing on the cake was when my husband and I were on our way back home, we stopped at the Great Saltair to see the sunset. Luckily I had my camera and tripod with me, and also an old school all manual film camera for my husband. We're going to get his film developed asap. But it was an amazing sight, to be sure. If anyone needs a good place for a date, think, or pretty much whatever, go to the Saltair just before sunset. Take your camera and make your friends jealous too ;)

Update!

Normally when I write blogs on here it's only a few pictures and a recap of the couple. Well. I've decided to make it a little more personal. I was recently married (June 12) to the love of my life, Jordan Drake (still workin on getting my name changed, what a pain!) at the Salt Lake Temple. It was an amazing day, and I now know all the stress that brides have to put up with!
I also recently had the opportunity to take some bridals and engagements for some friends of mine. It's interesting to be a wedding photographer. Things that are so intimate and beautiful, I get to spy in on, capture, and show that love to the world. That's my whole goal anyway. To catch that chemistry, that playfulness, that devotion, that love, and every couple is different. I tend to try and stay away from completely posing couples, all too often I find poses stiff and blah, however if a couple wants that, I do it. And usually the couples who want certain poses have a way of making it their own, breathing life into it. Take my friend Ashley and her fiance Dallin, for example. She had some cutesy poses in mind, but she totally owned them, as you can see above!
